The school's Designated Safeguarding Person is Rachel Edwards, the Headteacher. In her absence it is Clare Shaw (Deputy Headteacher) or Anne Hinchcliffe (Inclusion Manager). If you have any concerns about safeguarding please report them immediately to these members of staff.

SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN - It's everyone's business! We all have a statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
  

Prevent Duty Guidance for Schools and Child Care Provider Settings

The Prevent Duty Guidance (under the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015) which places a duty on schools, and child care providers, to “have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”.  This legal duty came into force on 1st July 2015.  The duty placed on schools covers 4 areas:

  • Risk Assessment
  • Working in Partnership
  • Staff Training
  • IT Policies

The training element of the Prevent Duty will make this training statutory for all staff in a similar way to Safeguarding training.  All our staff have received training this academic year (2015/16). The Head teacher, Deputy Head teacher and Chair of Governors have also attended additional training from the Local Authority.
