Dress Code
From January 2006, following a parental ballot, Meersbrook Bank School has adopted a recommended uniform, as follows:
-
White polo shirt
-
Dark green sweatshirt, jumper or cardigan
-
Grey or black trousers or skirt
-
Summertime – green and white gingham summer dress
Items with a school logo can be ordered (forms available from the office or http://www.clothingattesco.com/b/meersbrook-bank-primary-school/invt/107002/&bklist=icat,3,embschoolwear,m ) and plain items are generally available in local supermarkets and clothes stores.
Children must not wear unsuitable clothes or shoes that may cause a hazard to themselves or other children. Governors have agreed to the following, which we ask parents and carers to support.

For Safety:
-
Slip on sandals, flip-flops or high-heeled or excessively heavy shoes or boots should not be worn.
-
Children should be covered up in the sun to prevent sunburn.
-
Over-sized and excessively baggy tops and trousers should not been worn – these present a trip hazard and a hazard when using equipment in school.
-
The jewellery code should be observed – only small studs for pierced ears and watches should be worn – no rings, bracelets or necklaces whether made of metal or other materials should be worn in school. Nose studs should not be worn. All ear studs and watches should be removed for PE.
-
Long hair should be tied back for certain lessons e.g. PE, technology.
-
Children should have a suitable change of clothes and shoes for PE, whether indoor or outdoor.
-
Crop tops or similarly revealing clothes should not be worn.
-
Clothing with large and unsuitable logos should not be worn. Such clothing presents a distraction to concentration and learning in the classroom.
-
While we encourage the wearing of baseball caps as a sun protector, all hats should be removed on entry to the school building, classrooms and the dining room.
As fashions change, it will be necessary to update the detail of this code. Our aim at all times is the promotion of a safe, happy learning environment. For any queries, please contact the Headteacher or a Parent Governor.
The school cannot be held responsible for the loss of jewellery or watches in school.
PLEASE MARK ALL CLOTHING WITH YOUR CHILD'S NAME.
Any lost property is kept in a box in the cloakroom. Unclaimed, unmarked lost property is usually displayed and then disposed of at the end of term.
